Privacy Policy
Effective date: June 27, 2026 · Last updated: June 27, 2026
This Privacy Policy explains how TrippApps (“TrippApps,” “we,” “us,” or “our”) collects, uses, and shares information when you use the TrippApps website, trip-planning tools, and mobile applications (collectively, the “Services”). By using the Services you agree to this Policy. It works alongside our Terms of Service.
The short version. We collect what we need to plan your trips and run your account — your email, the trips and preferences you create, and basic usage and analytics data. We use Google Analytics to understand how the site is used. We do not sell your personal information, and we don’t show ads or share your data for cross-context behavioral advertising. Photos you add to a trip stay on your device and are not uploaded to us.
1. Information we collect
Information you provide
- Account information. When you create an account, we collect your email address and a display name. If you sign in with Google, we receive basic profile information (such as your name and email) from Google. Passwords are handled by our authentication provider and stored in hashed form — we never see your password.
- Trip and preference data. The starting points, destinations, and waypoints you enter; your vehicle and travel preferences (such as range, fuel efficiency, lodging and dining preferences, and units); and the trips and settings you save and sync to your account.
- Communications. Information you send us when you contact support or fill out a form.
- Purchases. If you buy merchandise, your order and shipping details and payment are processed by our store and payment providers (see Section 3). We do not store your full payment card details.
Information collected automatically
- Usage and device data. Basic information such as your approximate region, device and browser type, and activity timestamps (for example, when you were last active and where you first signed up), used to operate and improve the Services and to keep them secure.
- Essential storage. We use your browser’s local storage and similar technologies to keep you signed in and to remember your preferences. These are necessary for the Services to work.
- Analytics. We use Google Analytics (GA4) to understand how visitors find and use the Services so we can improve them. Google Analytics sets cookies and collects data such as the pages you view, your approximate location (derived from a truncated IP address), device and browser type, and how you interact with the site. We use it for measurement only — we do not enable Google’s advertising or cross-site audience features, and we do not use this data to serve you ads. You can opt out across all websites with the Google Analytics Opt-out Browser Add-on. Your use of Google Analytics is also subject to Google’s Privacy Policy.
- Location. We process the locations you enter to plan a route. With your permission, the mobile app may use your device’s location to center the map or pre-fill your starting point; you can deny or revoke this in your device settings. We do not continuously track your location in the background.
- Security and bot detection. We use Cloudflare to protect the Services from bots and abuse, including an invisible Cloudflare Turnstile check when you plan a trip. To do this, Cloudflare processes technical information such as your IP address and browser signals; it does not ask you to solve a puzzle in normal use. This processing is subject to Cloudflare’s Privacy Policy and its Turnstile Privacy Addendum.
Photos
Photos you attach to a trip are stored on your device and are not uploaded to TrippApps. A future, separate photo-cloud product, if offered, would have its own clearly disclosed terms.
2. How we use information
- To provide the Services — planning routes, estimating fuel and charging stops, and saving and syncing your trips and settings across your devices.
- To create and manage your account and authenticate you.
- To respond to your support requests and communicate with you about the Services.
- To process merchandise orders.
- To maintain security, prevent abuse, debug, and improve the Services.
- To comply with legal obligations.
3. How we share information
We do not sell your personal information. We share information only as described here:
- Service providers. We use trusted providers to run the Services, who process information on our behalf, including: our authentication and database provider (for accounts, saved trips, and settings); Google Maps Platform (for maps, places, directions, and Google sign-in); Google Analytics (for usage measurement); fuel- and charging-location data sources; our merchandise store and print-on-demand fulfillment provider (for orders and shipping); our hosting provider; our security and content-delivery provider (Cloudflare, for bot protection and to serve the site); and an email-delivery provider (for account and support emails).
- Map data. The Services use Google Maps Platform. Your use of mapping features is also subject to Google’s Privacy Policy.
- Legal and safety. We may disclose information if required by law or to protect the rights, safety, and property of TrippApps, our users, or the public.
- Business transfers. If TrippApps is involved in a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets, information may be transferred as part of that transaction.
4. Data retention
We keep your information for as long as your account is active or as needed to provide the Services, and afterward only as needed for legitimate business or legal purposes. You can delete your saved trips at any time, and you can ask us to delete your account and associated data (see Section 7).
5. Security
We use reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect your information, and we rely on established providers for authentication and storage. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, however, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.
6. Children’s privacy
The Services are intended for adults and are not directed to children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided us information, contact us and we will delete it.
7. Your choices and rights
You can review and update your display name from your account page, edit or delete your saved trips, and adjust your travel preferences at any time. To request access to, correction of, or deletion of your personal information, or to close your account, contact us at support@trippapps.com. You can also control location and notification permissions in your device settings.
8. California privacy rights
If you are a California resident, the California Consumer Privacy Act (as amended by the CPRA) gives you the right to know what personal information we collect and how we use and share it, to request access to or deletion of your personal information, to correct inaccurate information, and to not be discriminated against for exercising these rights. We do not sell or share your personal information for cross-context behavioral advertising. To exercise your rights, contact us at support@trippapps.com; we will verify your request through your account email before acting on it.
9. International users
The Services are operated from the United States. If you access them from outside the U.S., you understand your information will be processed in the United States, where privacy laws may differ from those in your country.
10. Changes to this Policy
We may update this Policy from time to time. If we make material changes, we will post the updated Policy here with a new effective date and, where appropriate, notify you. Your continued use of the Services after the changes take effect means you accept the updated Policy.
